I have a piece which uses large passages in 11/8 time. I enter the time signature in all instances as [3+3+3+2]/8, because that’s how I want the beaming to work. When I enter the signature in that way, all existing beams are corrected to that pattern. However, when I enter more notes AFTER the time signature is already created, the beaming goes in any old which-way, as though the time signature had been entered as 11/8. (In other words, as though I had entered the time signature a 11/8 rather than showing the subgroups.) Doing the ‘Re-Set Beaming’ things does nothing.
After entering the notes that wrongly beamed, if I go back in and redefine the time signature using the bracket, the beams are corrected. It’s as though Dorico has forgotten how I defined the meter, so I have to remind it!
Check if you have a signpost or something for a hidden 11/8 just after this bar, as you might have a hidden regular 11/8 time signature that is changing it back.
Otherwise, might be a glitch - you could try quitting Dorico and going back in to see if that fixes it. You might even find that closing and reopening the same file causes it to display correctly without doing anything.
I can’t find any hidden signatures. One thing I have noticed that may or may not be relevant: When I double-click on one of my 11/8 signatures, the popup simply shows 11/8 instead of the way I entered it as 3+3+3+2, in brackets. Is this normal, or should it show it the way I entered it, which I double click on it?
I only learned this one recently. Importantly, if the original was entered with beam groups, it allows you to edit the current beam grouping in the popover
