Cannot do anything in 14.0.40 (Win 11) because when I switch to my Focusrite driver in Studio Setup, Cubase freezes. When I say freezes, I cannot do literally anything more. Cannot kill Cubase in Task Manager, cannot reboot the PC - have to literally unplug the PC to reboot it.
As of this moment, I’m completely unable to use Cubase…
If nothing else is using the Focusrite ASIO driver when you start Cubase, I recommend just reinstalling the Focusrite driver, in case something got messed up.
No, I haven’t tried that, primarily because I’ve used the interface for approx 5 years with the existing cable and port and even used it this morning prior to installing 14.0.40.
Tomorrow I will try going back to the previous build of 14 and report back.
I noticed one or two hiccups with 14.0.40 reported on this forum, so I didn’t upgrade as 14.0.32 was stable for me. Up to 15 Pro now and all is well, but it could be that last iteration of CB14 that knocked your previously working setup sideways.
So I fully uninstalled and then reinstalled 14.0.32 and it’s working fine again now, so my “personal” conclusion is that it is something in 14.0.40 (it automatically sent log files so hopefully Steinberg has those) - wasn’t planning to upgrade to 15 as I’ve only just gone to 14, but perhaps I will now…
I have Scarlett 2i4 2nd gen. It works with Cubase 14.0.32, 14.0.40 and 15.0.05.
BUT…
Just prior to Cubase 14.0.40, I migrated to Win 11 24H2 and it definitely did not work.
I upgraded to the latest Scarlett driver and it has worked since with Win 11 24H2 and Cubase 14.0.32, 14.0.40 and with Win 11 25H2 and Cubase 14.0.40 and 15.0.05 (I never tried 24H2 with Cubase 15).
I remember that it seemed like the newest Scarlett driver was no different than the one I was using but decided to try it anyway and it solved the issue. I would give it a try.
