In the new Score, rests and extra notes appear, can’t find which setting controls that for simple piano score. Anyone can point me to specific tutorial or dropdown? Thanks kindly.
Can you share the project file (a small version of it ideally) and maybe also a screenshot, indicating what specificially you find to behave unexpectedly?
Thanks for responding - and sure! Here is a screenshot. It’s a simple piano waltz. You can see rests in the left hand that shouldn’t be there, it somehow has 4 beats to measure even though 3/4 time signature. The note stems in the right hand should be pointed up, and the bass clef stems should be pointed down. And there are some eight notes that are appearing together as a quarter-note. These sound like settings issues but I couldn’t find specific fixes. Your experience and help is greatly appreciated! Thanks kindly.
That notation is correct (though it may not be exactly what you are wanting). The left hand notes are in two voices.
In this case, there are only 3 beats in the bar. In the top voice you have rest, B, B. In the lower voice you have a E (half note), G (quarter note)

If you want a simplified notation with only one voice in each hand, then in Score > Instrument Settings, disable the Voice 2 in both staves.
Thank you! Is there a way to increase the space between the system brackets? I’m ok with the space between treble and bass clefs, but between each bracket set - I guess both clefs for piano are called systems.? They’re awfully close together - don’t see that setting option. Thanks so much!
Go to “Layout Setting” → “Vertical Spacing” → “Ideal Gaps” → “Inter-System Gap”
There are a lot of options there that I don’t understand, though (and there is always an additional intervening complex automatism). Give it a try.
