Hi,
How can I make an 16th as an upbeat measure in 4/4?
4/4,0.25 (link to relevant section in the manual - hint: it’s called a pick-up in English)
4/4,0.25

As they say:
Shift+M and 4/4,0.25 in the popover!
At the risk of overstating (since you have your answer), it’s a math thing! The value for the pickup may change depending upon the meter. Here, a 16th note is 1/4 of a beat in 4/4 or ‘C’. (It would be the same in any x/4 meter, i.e. 2/4, 5/4, 3/4, etc.)
If the ‘denominator’ were different – say /8 or /2 – then it would be a different value than ‘.25’. For example, in 6/8 it would be ‘.5’ (since it is 1/2 of an 8th note), and in 2/2 (or Cut time) it would be ‘.125’ (1/8 of a half note). So the Shift-m popover entry would be cutc,.125 in the case of Cut time with a 16th pickup.
More than you asked for, but trying to be helpful for others who get tripped up on what to enter.

Thanks to all, and thanks to you jaskarbong - it’s exactly whats needed
When I ask it’s often to try to understand the way Dorico thinks or are organised - as an Finale Refugee I still take myself in using this logic when trying to solve a problem.
I’m a big fan of Dorico but it has steep learning curve…
