I have another question (actually, two questions) related to Notation options. I’ve set this option in order to get all 16th notes beamed together in 3/8:
I know I could change that by entering a [3]/8 TS, but I don’t want that because there are also a lot of 16th note triplets in this piece which I’d then have to break. So I tried to beam those notes in the first bar together manually.
But as you can see, nothing happens. This is a new Dorico project, no XML import (I attached an example below). This feels like a bug, unless I’m doing something completely wrong. Any ideas?
And second question: why are the beams broken when there is a rest on the first or last sixteenth, but not in any other case? If I choose a certain notation option I’d expect that to be consistent.
Occasionally when beaming doesn’t behave as it should, I have had to first apply either Split Beam or Reset Beaming before then again applying Beam Together.
I know, that’s why I added the video. But when I try this now and use the Filter to only select notes, Beam together suddenly works. It is really weird though because I created that mockup file from scratch for this reason and tried multiple times in a row, after having tried this in my actual project file for 10 minutes or so.
I actually did that a couple of times before recording that video, to no avail. But it did suddenly start working again. Of course when I do Beam together now, it works every time. (I didn’t restart Dorico in the mean time). If I hadn’t recorded it I’d think I was losing my mind.
Thanks all for chiming in! I’m not marking a solution just yet because I’m still curious if there is some kind of underlying issue, and also because I don’t know what exactly made it work again.
