1st parenthesis in chord symbols alteration is missing and I can't bring it back

Hello forum!

I’ve stumbled upon an issue in my chord symbols appearance. Whenever I try to input a chord symbol with an alteration, e.g. G(add2) and I want the alteration to be parenthesized, only the second of the two parenthesis appear (see screenshot n°1). I’m sure this has nothing to do with the engraving options regarding chord symbols; I’m instead pretty sure this is related to the project “default appearances” window of chord symbols. In one my previous projects, in fact, I accidentally removed one of the parenthesis from the components list of the default appearances window and I don’t know how to bring it back. If, for example, I now insert the chord Gadd2 in the Project Default Appearances list, it will appear without the first of the two parenthesis (see screenshot n°2).

The problem is that now every new project I create contains this issue (with any chord that contains parenthesized alteration, not only the G(add2) of the example) and I don’t really know how to bring it back to the original settings: even clicking on the “resect to factory” button didn’t produce any change; if I type the chord in the chord symbol pop-up after that, the chord still contains one parenthesis.

I also tried this: I have an old project (project B) that for some reason doesn’t contain the issue. After I opened it, I opened Engraving Options and clicked “Save as default”. I then closed the current project (project A, the one containing the issue), reopened it, and pressed “Revert to saved as default” on engraving options. None of this worked.

I would truly appreciate some help in this matter from the Dorico Wizards.

Thank you so much in advance,

Lorenzo

Hi!

Not sure, but have you tried opening the Library Manager in the file where your chord symbol is wrong, and comparing “Chord Symbol Appearance” (or “Chord Symbol Appearance Components”?) either with a file where it displays correctly or with the factory settings? If you notice a difference (indicated by a red crossed-out equal sign), click on it to import the right symbol in your file.
