[2.0.30] Using Automation Track with a hidden global Mixer Channel

Hi team,

I have encountered a software behavior that, at least in my opinion, I believe to be anomalous and that concerns the Edit Input Bus and the Edit Output Bus of an Automation Track in the presence of a global Mixer Channel that is hidden.

Let’s consider the following project that includes a channel in the mixer associated with a Global Stack:

Let’s assume that we associate the Edit Output Bus of an Automation Track precisely to the Mixer Channel relating to the Global Stack called Stack 1:

By saving and reloading the project, the association created between the Automation Track and the Mixer Channel Stack 1 is correctly preserved.

At this point, however, we act on the Visibility tab to hide the Stack 1 channel:

After saving and reloading the project again, note that the association created between the Automation Track and the Stack 1 Mixer Channel is lost.

As initially stated, I doubt this behavior is intended.

I look forward to your feedback on this report, thank you.

Hi team,

just as a reminder, this issue is also present in the new version of the software 2.1.1.

Waiting for your feedback.

As always, thanks for the support.

Hi,

sorry for the delay. I’ve done the following steps with a new project of VST Live 2.1

  1. Start VL and a new Project
  2. Select STACKS and add a Stack (name : Stack 1)
  3. Select MIXER and hide “Stack 1” channel
  4. Select TRACKS, add an Automation Track
  5. Select “Stack 1” as the Input Device. The Output Device turns to “Stack 1”
  6. Disable the Link Control and assign for the Input Device
  7. Only the Output Device has “Stack 1” assigned
  8. Save Project, Close VL
  9. Start VL and load project from [8]

The Output Device is correct and the “Stack 1” Channel is hidden. Can you please re-try it with a fresh project? Does it work? If not, please give me the project or tell me which step is wrong or missing.

Thank you
Michael

Hi @Spork,

to facilitate the reproducibility of the issue I have prepared a small project:

AutomationWithHiddenGlobalChannel.zip (11.6 KB)

  1. Open the provided project
  2. Check that the output status of the automation track Track 1 is correctly connected to the Stack 1 channel of the Mixer
  3. In the Mixer tab hide the Stack 1 channel
  4. Save the project and reload it
  5. Now the output status of the automation track Track 1 is incorrectly connected to the Stack 1 channel of the Mixer

Let me know if this way also makes the issue unreproducible.

Waiting for your further feedback, thanks.

… ah, thank you very much. It’s a combination of a Global Part and the hidden channel. It’s fixed now. Please re-try with the next Update.

Have a nice day,
Michael.

Thanks Michael and have a nice day too!

Hi @Spork,

I can confirm that, after repeating the test on version 2.1.2, the issue seems to be fixed.

As always, thanks for the support!
