[2.1.0.178] Size of VST Viewer Window not saved

The position of the VST Viewer Window is saved but not the size of the window. Earlier versions of VST did save the size and the position correct.

How the project was saved:

How it loads:

… that’s a bug, sorry. It’s fixed now, please re-try with the next version.

But here comes the workaround. Open the VST Viewer, resize it and close the Editor. Now save the project. At the Moment VST Live and VST Viewer update the size (which should be saved) only when the Editor was closed.

See you,
Michael.

Hi @Spork ,
thanks for the Fix and also for the workaround!

Hello Detlev,

I’m struggling aound with Vst Viewer.

Have you found, in which version of VST LIVE the viewer runs correct?

Best regards

Heiner

Hi @pianoproject ,

what’s not working for you? Make sure that your are running the latest VST Live and VST Viewer version. More here.

See you,
Michael.

Hello Michael,

Now You need a little time  :

I’ll try to explain what isn’t working for me.
First of all, I’m working on a laptop with Windows 10 and using the latest version of VL and VST Viewer. I’ve also connected a Samsung Galaxy tablet as an additional monitor via Spacedesk. Both screens have the same resolution.
In my project, I’ve set up three songs with the Viewer module as a test, as you explained in an earlier post.
When I want to start a song, I first have to open the module using the “e” button. I drag the breakout window to the tablet screen with the mouse and have to position it correctly there. To prevent the VST Viewer screen on the laptop from interfering, I now close the Viewer window. The breakout window on the tablet remains open. The song plays smoothly, and all the switching functions (for scrolling through the PDF sheet music) work.
However, if I activate the “Syn Break Out Window Visibility” button in the Viewer window, the tablet window also closes.
If I switch to the next song, I have to do all this again. It is annoying that the breakout window from the first song remains open and has to be closed manually. My idea was that the viewer would start automatically for each song, etc.
What am I doing wrong?

Best regards

Heiner

Hello again,

I may have just found a solution, more by chance than anything else:
When I hide the open VST Viewer window (I drag it all the way down to just below the edge of the screen), everything works and the set view sizes are largely retained and saved. Then it is also possible to click the “Sync Break Out…” button without anything bad happening.
Could that be the solution?
Is there probably a better way to “hide” the VST V window?

read you

Good idea, also were thinking about:
@Spork : is it technically necesarry to maintain a “third, fourth sublevel window” (the break-out-window) instead of giving a “hide toolbars-btn” for VST-Viewer’s main “e” window. Therefore simply by hiding unnecesarry toolbar-elements, might let us use it as a full-screen reader-window?

From user’s aspect, that look maybe more complicated:

  1. Navigating to MODULES
    1B. Finding VSTViewer MOD
  2. Clicking “e” for opening VSTViewer, but then
  3. Clicking Break-out-window
  4. PLUS clicking to brand-logo and enable “SYNC”

With “hide toolbar” in VSTViewer’s window, might avoid step 3. and 4.

Hi Michael, Felician,
Thank you for looking into this!

In my opinion and based on my way of working, it would be great if there was a way to view a PDF file on an external monitor (in my case, a tablet) without any problems. Perhaps “Hide Toolbar” is a solution if the user has done everything necessary before.

So, as described by Michael

1.Navigating to MODULES
1B. Finding VSTViewer MOD
2. Clicking “e” to open VSTViewer, but then
3. Clicking Break-out window
4. PLUS clicking on the brand logo and enabling “SYNC"
5. Next step: Maybe a BTN: “Hide Toolbar.” After that, the break-out window on the tablet should not close!
