2.1.13 Lyrics not synchronous

Hi at all,

I have a strange problem with the lyrics window that I can’t explain to me.
Today VST Live messed up our live performance.

I run 2.1.13 and the lyrics is displayed on a HDMI monitor for the singer. The MacBook (Intel) is connected to a thunderbolt dock from Sonnet (to provide HDMI output).
Actually I can’t reproduce the issue. But I want to describe it to the VST Live team a for the community. Eventually someone hast an idea or the developers find the issue.

Here the behavior and the steps I did before

  • started up and loaded the show
  • did the soundcheck with three songs (all lyrics displayed properly and synchronized)
  • MacBook was on for 2 hours (no standby or energy settings)
  • then before the show I saw that the lyrics on the external display is a little bit cut off
  • reduced the font size and zoomed in
  • then we started the song
  • the position of the song was round about at bar 8, but the lyrics of bar 14 was displayed
  • therefore I decided to stop the song an play live to prevent that the backing tracks on the refrain are out of sync
  • same behavior on two different songs (same songs played during soundcheck with no issues)
  • closed the software (not saved) and started again and loaded up the show
  • can’t reproduce it

… we are still hunting this kind of a bug. Really strange one. We are doing our best to catch it. Sorry :frowning:

I hope I can help you to find it quickly. The worst are non-reproducible errors.
So it´s hard for me to trust VST Live for live-usage.

What else I noticed yesterday:
I started VST Live, connected the external display and thrown the lyrics windows on it. The text of the song was displayed normal. All letters displayed correctly (no cut off). After two hours before the live-show I´ve selected the same song.

Now the letters were cut-off. Seems like the “view” changed without user interaction. Therefore I reduced font-size and zoomed in. For me it looks like the correlation of the zoom factor and the scrolling speed in the lyrics windows does not match after changing.

… and you changed nothing? Maybe the SETLIST editor was opened? Have you created a new song (meanwhile)? Something like this?

Nothing. Only changed the midi output in the connections menu.

Are there logs on the mac which i can provide for help?

@Spork: 3 minutes ago I wrote this post the problem occurred again!!

Did some editing in chords and lyrics window of track 1, track 2, track 3 and track 4. Then I switched to track five and all the lyrics is on the false position.

Following two pictures show the false positioned lyrics:

The lyrics in the tracks view and the lyrics list editor was also on the false position (sorry no screenshot).

A very vague assumption:

  • tempo of song 5 = 120bpm
  • when you look at the tempo of song 6: 68bpm
  • if you compare the false positioned lyrics to the right positioned lyrics it is roundabout 2 times slower (little bitte under the factor 2)
  • → therefore it could be 68bpm

If I compare it to my first post (12 days ago) it could be the right direction of my assumption.

  • lyrics of the 1st song was positioned false (lyrics was displayed to quick)
  • tempo of the 2nd song was 135bpm

Can you please check it if this eventually is responsible for the error?

Yeah, had same problem yersterday at rehersals, tonight i have a gig … i’ll check very carefully before show start, usually just save close project reopen project fixes it and then never happen during normal show playthrough so i suppose something that happens while editing other things causes the shift …

During soundcheck lyrics went off again when i was fiddling with levels and sends to monitors, had to restart VSTLive, then checked that tehy was ok and left it open, cheked again pre start nd first song was fine, no problems during the gig.

Hi @Spork (and for info @ciro1983811 )… the nightmare continues.

Yesterday I had the lyrics bug again. Closed VST live and opened it again - but the bug remains. Only a real reboot of my Mac helped.
