[2.1.2] Bug - noise when changing layer volume via midi controller

If changing the volume of a layer using a MIDI controller mapped to the layer volume, there is noise whenever I move the slider. The noise is not present if moving the layer volume slider on screen with the mouse.

Replicated using two different midi controllers, a Fantom 08 and a Korg NanoKontrol2 . Also replicated on different VST instruments including Halion Sonic 7.1
