[2.1.21] Soloing midi-part for VSTi multi-output doesn't work

When soloing midi-part routet to a multi-output VSTi, no audio is produced.
The screencapture is from v. 2.1.21, but this behaviour also holds true for v. 2.1.22.

Hi @Congaz,

I’ve tried to get it reproduced, but it’s working for me. Let me describe my steps.

  1. Start VL, New Project
  2. HALion Sonic is loaded as as layer of Part_1
  3. Select TRACKS and add a MIDI Track to it
  4. Route that Track to HALion Sonic | Layer 1 | Part_1
  5. Create a Clip from 2.1 to 3.1 and add some events to it
  6. Start Transport

HALion Sonic is playing fine

  1. Select MIXER and add an OUT Channel to Mixer. Name it “global audio cue”
  2. Back to LAYERS and open the editor of HALion Sonic
  3. In HALion Sonic change the Main Output to “Out 2”
  4. Open the “Multi-Audio-Output Sidebar” and change “HS Out 2” to “global audio cue”

HALion Sonic is still playing fine.

What am I missing? Maybe you can help me and create a “simple” project which shows the problem? Create an archive and drop it here. To create an archive use “VST Live / Menu / File / Save Archive …”, select an empty folder, create a zip file and drop it here.

Thank you very much,
Michael.

Hi
I’ll try to see if I can reproduce the behavior from an empty project. It’ll probably be a couple of days before I have the time to explore it properly.

Ok, I’ve tried re-creating the issue in an empty project.

When routing the VSTi output to an out channel or a song group channel, there’s no problem. However, when routing to a global channel, the global channel doesn’t get solo’ed when the midi-part is solo’ed.

  1. Create new project
  2. Layers > Create layer with e.g. Halion in Part 1
  3. Tracks > Create a midi-track, route to Halion and add event with some notes
  4. Mixer > Add a global group
  5. Layers > Open Halion and route output to global group
  6. Tracks > Play (wtih no solo) and confim there’s audio
  7. Tracks > Solo midi-part and there’s no audio

On a side-note:
If Group was labelled “Global Group” and Song Group just “Group”, it would be more clear how the groups work - and be in line with having a Part and a Global Part.
