While working with the Song-Tack and Song-Parts I found the following Problems:
When I create a Song-Track (after configuring the Audio-Tracks and Start and End-Marker the Song Track is much too long and I cannot grab the end (1) and drag it to the end of the song!
The name of the last Part that I inserted (2) is not used by the last Part of the Song-Track?!
Maybe someone can give me a short advice how to fix the way-to-long Song-Track End.
1, reported at time of v2 release. You currently can’t , probably will be polished but really doesn’t do anything bad. (But true will look fancier once when last-song-part will finish at e.g. SongEndMarker)
2, that one should work, so there might be something specific bug.
UPDATE: tryed and VL is stopping naming song-track-parts after the 4th part. Hmmmmm…
There is nothing more I can do than report the problems that occur and are recurring on my computer. If nobody checks the report themselves, then unfortunately I can’t help! The problems exist!
tested problem no.2: navigating from / back to song: working then. Same at your side (then no worries for now)?
Ok, tested a few times: conclusion that might help to developers:
can reproduce
clicking create 10+ parts
start renaming so anything simple (ein, zwei, usw)
Song-Track-Part names inheriting from left-hand-side-part-list after a few renaming is suddenly stopping
nav from / back to song: names are displayed correctly
I tested all this steps - see Screenshot!
There are 12 parts in this Song and the last Part in the Song-Track did not take the name like shown in the screenshot in the “Parts” section of the song.
I could reproduce this in three Songs so it is nothing with this song. Evertime it is the same and the Tack-length is like in the screenshot way to long and you cannot grab the end and adjust it to the needed songlength.
Maye this has something to do with the second problem I wrote. The stationary curso setting gets lost when you click in the timeline. I also can reproduce this easy so the devs need to take a look at it.
Hi @Spork , while that does technically really nothing, but would be calming from users point of view to see {last-part-in-song-track} wouldn’t leasts forever but clip-block ends at e.g. EndMarker.
Yes, somewhere to end “Part_2” would look visually cleaner, wouldn’t confuse user with doubt, song doesn’t have end.
Does that makes sense? But that is ‘just’ a minor visual
What @Detgyver found and can confirm with a few testing, the song-track-naming bug. It seomehow stops inheriting left-side-part-names to Song-Track-Part-Names after a certaing amount of part or renaming. At my side navigation from and back solves. Steps above:
Unfortunately, I cannot confirm that the problem has been solved. Even the handles that were previously displayed in the song track are no longer there.
Even with version 2.1.6 you cannot adjust the end of the “song track” to the end of the song!
… and you requested that one. We are still discussing (internally) if we are adding it.
… what’s that? Can you reproduce it with a new project? What happens in your project if you delete the Song-Track (Dance the Night) and and you are adding a Song Track again?
Hi, you can see, that I tested the fix with “Dance the Night” adding the Song-Track to a new Song because I originally wrote about the problem that I found during my work on the Song “Save your Tears”.
The only thing that has changed with the fix is that the last part created in the song track now immediately takes on the name that you give to the “part” in the left area.
The length of the last part in the song track cannot be adjusted to the length/end of the song.
I did another test to see what works with the Song-Track.
In the Song “Dance the Night” (Song 3 in my set list) I tried to use the scissors to cut off the part that was left over at the end of the song. As a result, VL jumped to the start of the song “Save your Tears” (song 1 in the set list). Very strange!
VL did indeed cut the last part but it cannot be removed with the eraser or adjustet to the correct song length. In addition, the one cut I made with the scissors at the end of the Song-Track automatically created a gap in the song track between the first part and the second part (see screenshot). Here, too, I cannot touch and move the parts with the mouse cursor.
I repeated this test three times and closed VL between each test and the result was everytime the same. I uploaded the crashlogs to the GDrive that you have access to.
Update [2.1.7]
In 2.1.7 are no improvements here. The last “Part” - especially the end of the part is not editable and cannot adjusted to the song end.
… I am a bit lost here. The last part is not length-able. You can not adjust the length. The last part should always stop at the end of the TRACKS view. Our example “looks” wrong.
… the eraser should delete a Clip. That’s a bug.
Can you give me access to your full project. Then I’ll have a look what’s happening.
Than here is the Bug! When I insert a Song-Track VL expands the first part that is already there to this way-to-long Part. I did only create new Parts in the left zone to divide the song-parts correct but at the end is the last part that goes way beyond the song end that cant be edited or deleted!
The screenshot shows how long the part is!
