[2.2.17] [2.2.18] [2.2.19] Multiple Issues when editing MIDI events in the Lower Zone

I’ve come across several issues while editing MIDI data in the Lower Zone (working on a Mac:

  1. Length field ignores simple numeric input
When I enter a simple number like “2” or “4” to set the length of a MIDI note, the value sometimes is ignored. However, entering “2.0” or “4.0” then works as expected. It seems like VST Live sometimes does not correctly parse whole numbers unless they are formatted with a decimal.
  2. Clicking events sometimes creates new ones
When using the Select tool, simply clicking an existing MIDI event sometimes creates a new event instead of selecting the existing one. This doesn’t happen when using a selection box — in that case, the existing event can be selected correctly.
  3. Resizing events with the mouse behaves unpredictably
When trying to drag the end of a MIDI note, sometimes one of two things happens:
  • Either the entire event is moved to a new position instead of being resized
  • Or the event is stretched far beyond the screen, resulting in an extremely long note duration

All of this makes MIDI editing in the Lower Zone quite unreliable at the moment.

Are there any updates on this topic?

Hi,

… that one has been fixed and will be ready with the next Pre-Release (2.2.21).

We tried our best but we cannot get them reproduced :frowning: Any more hints how we get it reproduced?

I totally can understand that. Maybe you have some hints to get it reproduced? Maybe you start a new “simple” project with some events to see if there’s a pattern?

Thank you,
Michael.

Hi Michael,

I’ve done some additional testing. The issue seems to be related to the “Offset” setting.

As soon as the object on the track has an offset applied, the editor in the Lower Zone starts to behave incorrectly.

Spork, have you been able to reproduce the bug?

… yes, sorry for being late. It’s fixed.

Thank you very much for you detailed help and your patience,
Michael.
