Sometimes I get this dialog box and then after some time it crashes.
After several starts, it starts without this box and everything is fine.
After switching back to Version 2.2.1 the error still occurs. Are there any library data I should remove, after switching back to an older version?
Have you updated a VST recently?
Hi @Stefan_Var,
can you please check the following folder for Crash Logs of VST Live? Please add them here.
/Users/Your_Username/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports
Thank you,
Michael.
Hi @Spork
These are 5 reports, I have much more.
I added one from today, after downgrading to version 2.2.1.
It still crashes everytime.

Hi @Stefan_Var,
Thank you for your logs. That is helpful. While we analyse it, could you please check if “Multi Processing” is enabled? Start VST Live, Create a New Project and open the Preferences.
Please disable the “Multi Processing”, restart the application and load your project. Better?
/Michael.
Hi @Spork,
I checked my settings.
I uninstalled VST LIVE 2 (incl. all Library files - Application Support), installed 2.2 with Steinberg Download Assistant. The project still works fine with that version.
Then I installed again 2.2.2
This time the start worked without crashing, after switching the song it crashed again. The next start it also crashed again. Both times without a report.
… thank you. Is it possible to get access to the project? Use the archive function for it.
Use “VST Live / File / Save Archive …” and select an empty folder. Afterwards zip that folder and send me a PM with a link to download it.
Thank you
Michael.
If you don’t want to expose your media data, just the .vlprj file should be sufficient, thanks!
One more thing…if you can start VST Live, could you go to “File/Preload” and uncheck “Always preload”, does that make a difference?
Hi @musicullum
I deactivated the preload and now the project started several times without crashing. But when I switch the songs, it crashes again.
@musicullum I sent the project archive to @Spork
please handle with care.
Experienced some freeze during song change, with or without MP on , sometimes it recovers (global stacks audio freeze, program freeze, then after 10 seconds it works again), sometimes it crashes …
EDIT: ok, i think it changed something in the way VST Saves routing in the vlprj … in 2.2.2.
Both this problem of freezing 10 seconds with global stack frozen at song changes and the problem i experienced with audio crackles with MP if there is no monitoring when playng back recoded tracks thru stacks (blayback while moniotring off in preferences) happens after saving and reopening.
If previosuly saved with MP on, the resaved with MP off, freeze song changes happens with MP off but not happens with MP on. Viceversa, when MP on, the problem with monitoring happens.
Definitely something strange linked to routing MP ON/OFF and saving project in different states…
Ciao!
We found the reason for this, also sometimes causing a crash. All related to sends, and changing Songs (or loading a project), but probably not to MP.
Pls check again with the next version (tomorrow, if all goes well), and sorry for the inconvenience. Thanks @Stefan_Var for the project, it massively uses sends, which lead us to the culprit.
@musicullum will the new version also help the song starts to begin without delay?
You mean the 10 seconds delay? Yes.
It is generally the case that when a new song starts, there is always a delay, so that if there is a click in the end of a song and the click goes on in the following song, it has a longer pause when the song changes. But also the drums are not heard with the first note (the first notes are not played correctly by the VST instrument).
It always seems to take a moment until the VST instrument is loaded or buffered. During playback there are then no more problems, it is always just the playback at the start.
It’s the same issue with the older version, so nothing new with the delay.
Yes.
Consider that each Song in VST Live is like an entire project in Cubase (or other DAW). There is no seamless switching Songs in VST Live yet, just as much as there is no seamless switching between projects in Cubase.
We have it on our list, but it’s a major task because it involves loading and running 2 Songs (mediaprojects, transports, tempo/signature maps, mixers, the whole shabang) at the same time - which can also cause resource problems both CPU and memory.
