[2.2.44] No Sound at first start

Hi all,
since some versions I´m facing an issue with VST Live that there is no sound output. If I close the program and start it again everything works as expected.
I can replicate this issue on 2 PCs with internal Soundcard using the “generic low latency ASIO driver” but also with an external RME Fireface UC and the latest Fireface Asio Drivers.
Can someone reproduce this issue or is there a setting which solves this problem?

Best regards
Antric

I had the same problem with the current (2.2.32) version.
I am using an UR824 Interface with the Yamaha Steinberg USB ASIO Driver and everything was fine so far. I will test it with today’s version to verify this.

We had the same problem but couldn’t yet figure out what caused it, and how to reproduce.
But we will continue to try and catch that fish, sorry for the inconvenience.
The weird thing is that ports are shown correctly, but refuse to function.
Will report back

I have the same issue on a Mac. Happens sporadically and has happened for the last couple of months.

I had this at a gig yesterday - although restarting didn’t work this time. Very awkward trying to sort out tech issues at sound check. I had to power off everything and load it up again then open vst live still nothing so restarted vst live and it finally started working.

Hello,
I also had no sound today. I tested version 2.2.33.359 and added a new USB output for my Yamaha 01V96i.
After routing, I clicked on Start. The transport was running, but there was no sound.
I had to close VSTL2 and restart it. After that it run again. I couldn’t find any overload or anything similar in the task manager.
mh… The error search is not going to be fun for the developers…
I am on Windows 11..

I had this issue several times as well, although only at home, not at rehearsals from what I remember.

The only difference is that during rehearsals my Mac is not connected to a Wifi router, I only use Wifi direct with the IPad. Moreover, no bluetooth keyboard and mouse during rehearsals. But maybe this has nothing to do with the issue, just in case…

Hi, the issue is not fixed in Version [2.2.44].
Sometimes I need to restart VST Live 3-4 times until the sound is working again. I´m really worried to use the program live on stage with this bug.

Best regards
Antric

Does ResetAudio helps in such cases to make sound working?

Yes, I was going to suggest the same. I always don’t get sound on startup. I have always been doing a do a Reset Audio Devices to get sound coming.

Have you tried deleting VST Live and cleaning C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\Steinberg and deleting everything with the name VST Live and reinstalling the program?
On Windows, I launched the program about 20 times and there is always sound

If I reset the audio device, sound is working again but I would Like to avoid such things as in older Versions I never faced such issues.
I tried it with 3 different PCs with a fresh Installation, all with the same problem.
As also many other users are facing the same issues (also Steinberg-Team confirmed) I hope this problem will be fixed in future versions.

@Antric @SDerMan I’m experiencing the same, so happy not being alone. I’m sure developers will help us with this :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

@birdmug @Detgyver @Shiroryu @kurtforce1991 @Herbert_Schmitt do you still facing with this too?

Will test tomorrrow in my Studio and report here.

Here I had Sound at first start. No Problem.

I did an additional testing session

  1. Start (my current VST-Project) Sound works
  2. VST Start (different Project) Sound works
  3. VST Start (different older Project) Sound Works
  4. Cubase 14 Pro Launch (large song project) Sound Works
  5. VST Start (different Project) Sound Works
  6. Nuendo 14 Launch (Video/Music-Project) Sound Works
  7. VST Launch (my current Project) Sound Works

At the moment the sound works fine directly after launching the app.
