2.2.72 Lyric Edit Misbehaving

Windows and MacOS.
Having an interesting time trying to enter lyrics manually. Some lines are duplicating and the duplicates can’t be deleted….

Create a new Lyric track
Open the Lyrics window
Add 4 lines, say 4 beats apart, and for this purpose enter text as Test1 thru Test4.
…notice that as you add them they are all selected cumulatively - is this by design?
Now select all 4 and move them down a bit.
Save Project, close VSTL, restart and reopen the Project.
Test4 is duplicated.
Also can’t delete it or it’s original. Comes back after save, reopen
…and it gets worse the more lines you add!

Copy/Paste doesn’t work now either.

Had to roll back to 2.2.60 to get the editor to work properly.

Hi, I tried to repeat the descriptions in your post, but my test 3 refused to be deleted, but I didn’t see a duplicate of test 4.

Doesn’t look like you exactly followed my recipe, but it doesn’t matter - if you had an undeletable line, that’s proof enough that editing is broken.

Thanks for recording the video - I haven’t had time as I’m preparing hard for a special friends wedding and it has to be as near perfect as possible

… thank you for your report, @CliveJ. We improved the Situation. Please give it a try with the next Pre-Release (2.2.81).

… yes, I See. Sorry, it’s a sideeffect with the Lyric-Clip editing. We need to shift the fix to the next-next Pre-Release (2.2.82)

… it should be much better with the upcoming 2.2.81 version. Can you give it a try?

We discovered that deleting a lyric with empty text removes it visually, but the underlying lyric event stays active. We’ll adjust this so events without text are deleted automatically.

Thank you,
Michael.

Hi Michael!

No, it doesn’t work, and it’s even more interesting. The video shows how the text is typed and shifted by a beat and about 1/4th. We save and close it.
We open it, and what do we see? Our text is back at the beginning, at the first beat!
Then we delete everything; it’s deleted! We close and open it, and voila, our text is there, and it’s alive and kicking. Watch the video

Pre-release 2.2.82 text retains its offset after project reload, and text deletion is also retained with this version

Hi! Please check it, it seems to be working.

That’s a LOT better.

One minor issue now: Select a number of lines with the mouse (i.e. mouse down and drag to select), copy/paste doesn’t work. However if you select the first line, hold down shift, and select the last line then copy/paste does work.

Thanks for checking and reporting the issue, I just don’t use it yet, so it hasn’t been fully fixed yet.
