- in addition, each selection from every tools should also be able to be cut using the “transfer tool” process.
- another pre-listen/playback tool that would only play the current mouse over when hovering in the Spectrum to preview only the portion, that’s to be added to a selection.
I do this all the time with a muted layer
yep, cool, thats what I do as well, but as far as I know, this cool transfer tool lets you only select audio with its dedicated cursor but not with a “magic wand” or "frequency " selection to blend it over to another layer “transfer tool style” , wich works great for certain conditions. As far as I know it doesn’t work like that, Otherwise please let me know. Thank you
ah ok, you want the all the tools to have percent transfer functionality, not just the free-form brush…language barrier, maybe?
yes, I often want this too…
or to copy/cut just a percentage of selection tools to other layers…which is yet another concept…which can be handled in other ways
You can strategically place your target layer under the layer your moving data from, and then use Edit > Cut to Layer Below (or rather its keyboard shortcut (Shift+X), which will have the desired effect of transferring any selection you’ve made to the layer below the selected layer.
Yes, Robin , but users can set transfer percentage only with the transfer tool
Other selection tools cut/ copy special only at 100%?
I suppose the other work around would be to reverse phase and change level?
I really understand and value the non-destructive design philosophy of SpectraLayers — the idea that everything can be undone or restored even after separation. It’s an important and powerful concept.
That said, once you start working more deeply with SpectraLayers for dialogue editing, there are many situations where you wish for more detailed control and greater flexibility in how you operate.
That’s why I’d love to have the option to set a transfer percentage, not just 100%. Having that finer control would allow for much more nuanced editing and could significantly improve the results.
Another feature I personally wish for is the ability to transfer frequency ranges with a gradient.
For example, being able to move just the high-frequency portion of a voice to another layer smoothly, almost like applying a high-pass filter during the transfer.
Right now, I simulate this using VST effects on a layer, but having a native SpectraLayers function for this would make the process much more intuitive and efficient.
The reason I want this is that when separating speech, high-frequency components sometimes aren’t correctly recognized as part of the voice.
So I often find myself needing to cleanly extract those remaining high-end voice elements into a separate layer.
