2 Questions: zones and MIDI FX

Dear people at Steinberg,

hello everybody, Davide from Italy. Coming from a very old Macbook with Mainstage and VST Live (on pc) looked like a breathe of fresh air to me but there are two things i loved on MS…

So the questions…

ZONES: the chance to create a zone composed of a single note! Actually i banged myself trying to replicate this on VST Live but, probably because i am still not that good at it, didn’t find the way to do so…

MIDI FX: on a VST “output”, i would like to insert a MIDI FX (eg. and arpeggiator or a MIDI Chorder) but, as above, i didn’t find an easy way to do so…

Thanks to all those will decide to reply!

Regards,

Davide.

As for the One-Note-Zone: It’s a bit fiddly, agreed. But have you noticed the zoom slider in the zones editor? It sits in the upper rightish corner of the editor. Pull it to the right for maximum zoom. Now it should be quite easy to draw a zone covering only one note.

MIDI FX: I don’t know which version of VL you’re using. In VL3 there are dedicated slots for MIDI Inserts on each MIDI track. To see them you have to open the Inspector panel.

Hello Kai,

first of all, thank You so very much for your kind and superfast reply!

Uh i didn’t use the zoom function before for zones inspection, and after your suggestion, BINGO!!! Problem solved and THANK YOU so much for pointing this out.

Regarding the VL3, sorry… I didn’t know of this added feature… Still using VL2. Will upgrade now!

Again, thank You so much for Your precious hints!

Best regards,

Davide.

VL2 has MIDI inserts on tracks as well. Not sure if it supports 3rd party inserts.

Hello Clive, just checked… I think you’re right, there are some MIDI inserts but all those “plugins” are provided by Steinberg… Not sure if i can add some 3rd party ones…. Or at least i didn’t find the way to add those…
