2 voices in a single-line staff

How could I add a second voice to a one-line staff? I can’t find the option…

Thank you!

Shift+V will add a new voice.

Yes, I’ve tried it but it doesn’t let me… maybe it’s the type of instrument?

Are you in Note Input mode?

Yes, I know how to do it with 5-line staves, but with percussion instruments that are only of one line it doesn’t let me…

Oh, sorry, was reading too quickly and missed that this was a one-line staff. I’m not sure if this is possible. If you don’t need notes in both voices at once, you can fake this by manually flipping the stems of notes that you want in the “other” voice.

Ok… The only thing is that I just need a note with the stem up and down at the same time.

In fact, even if it is a falsified solution, I am only interested in graphic editing.

Someone more clever than me may have a good way to fake that.

I think I will use a two-lines staff (like a two-bongos staff) instead of up and down stems. Probably it will be easier. Thank you!

Maybe you could use a drum set, and alter that to 1 line?

And at the percussion kit definition two instruments can be placed upon 1 line, and stem direction can be determined

Found something else that might work for you.

Take a look at this post and some of the preceding commentary. Basically, if you create a DefaultLibraryAdditions folder in your Dorico user preferences folder and drop in the file linked in that post, when you restart Dorico you’ll have the option of adding an instrument in the Custom category with a 1-line staff. Using this instrument, you can have multiple voices.

Start by adding the Percussion (1 line kit). This is a special Instrument that will only show one line when in 5-line mode.
