24-EDO issue

Hi all, new user here. Microtonal accidents aren’t sticking to my notes. I’m using the string quartet template. Conventional accents are working.

Have you followed the instructions in the manual how to set 24-EDO? You have to initiate it from a new clef.

I set the tuning to 24-EDO and still can’t get the accidentals to stick. Unclear if there’s something I’m missing about “initiating from a new clef.”

Select where you want to start the 24-EDO, A Note, Rest, or a Barline in the score. Select 24-EDO as before, then without selecting anything else or touching anything else, press Shift-K, atonal, Enter. (you can use any key signature instead of atonal)

You can also select a key signature here instead of the Shift-K

I’m doing this and the accidental won’t stick. Anyway, what difference should it make what key signature I’m using if I want a quarter-tone flat?

You lock the 24-edo in place with a key signature. Use Shift-K, atonal, enter if you don’t want any key signature. The important thing is to do that without moving the cursor or touching anything after selecting 24-edo.

Each tonality needs to be established by a key signature. Dorico will not understand a quarter-tone flat in a 12-EDO tonality, hence will reject it.

I think I got it working, thanks all.
