Hey there! I finally got my more than complicated misuse for unpitched percussion working to get my midi instrument recorded on custom 5-line tablature. Beside the fact, that I still can’t use the lock duration functionality for unpitched percussion (let me know if i’m doing something wrong), i’m struggling with the way, dorico handles percussion notation and gives no freedom. Is there any way/workaround to get a second voice into a unpitched percussion stave? Here are two examples:
The top note in measure 13 should be one half note:
One needs a strategy for which instruments one assigns to which stem direction.
You haven’t indicated which instruments occupy which staff line or space, but in a drum set there are a couple of standard formats. One is that instruments played with the hands (drums, toms, cymbals) use stems up, and those operated by the feet (bass drum, high hat pedal) use stems down.
A second convention is that drums use stems down and metal (cymbals) use stems up.
With kits of other instrument, I suppose stem directions are set to avoid confusing stem crossings.
It’s a very tricky setup for a custom midi instrument which has same notes on multiple keys. That’s the reason for I have to use percussion kit as the difference is indicated by different noteheads and line position.
