[3.0.37] DMX Output Settings lost after saving

Hi,
in the current version there is a bug where the DMX output settings inside a DMX track are lost after saving a project with version 3.0.37. After reloading the project, the output settings are sometimes reset to “nc” for all songs and all DMX tracks.

Hi,

could you please provide a bit more detail? We’re currently unable to reproduce the issue.

  • Do you start VST Live, load a project, and the DMX output is correct - but after saving, the output is lost?
  • Or do you load a song into a project, the DMX works correctly, and then disappears after saving?

If possible, could you share a project or song file that demonstrates the issue?

Thanks in advance,
Michael.

Hi,
I start the project and the DMX output works fine. But once I save the project in version 3.0.37, close it, and then open VST Live again with the same project, the DMX output is set to “nc” on some songs.
I created a new project in 3.0.37 and wasn’t able to reproduce the issue there. Maybe it only happens when the original project was created in a much older version?

If I only had to set the output again once, it wouldn’t be a big issue. But I’m worried that the problem might occur randomly, and during a show the DMX might stop working because the output is missing.

Antric

… can you please give me accesss to your project, the *.vlprj should be enough. PM?

Question : You are running the project on the same project? Or between different computers?

/Michael.

Hi again,
unfortunately I ran into the same issue in my project today. I’m currently on version 3.0.40.
There were no changes to any DMX settings, but all DMX tracks in all songs suddenly lost their DMX output assignment. Every track is set to “NC” , even though the same DMX adapter was still connected.

This makes it very time‑consuming to reassign the output for every track and every song. It also creates a lot of uncertainty during live performances, because you can’t be sure everything will work unless you manually recheck all tracks beforehand.

Antric

… are you referring to songs that are already saved in a project, or songs that will be loaded into a project?

I assume you’re referring to songs that will be loaded into a project. If those songs were saved some time ago, they may still contain this bug. Please reassign the output and save them again.

After that, the output assignment should be correct the next time the songs are loaded.

See you
Michael.

Hi Michael,
no, I’m really referring to all songs. In the past, I already went through every song using version 3.0.40 and reassigned the output.
Now, when I opened the project, I noticed that DMX wasn’t working. So I checked all songs again and saw that the output had been set to “NC” for every single one.

I’m currently trying to remember what I changed in between. I did use this project with VST Live 2.2.120, and maybe I saved it at some point.
I’ll try to reproduce the issue that way as soon as I have some time and will post another update here.

Antric

… thank you, @Antric, please keep me in the loop,
Michael.

Hi Michael,
I can confirm that saving the project in 2.2.120, then opening it in 3.0.40 and saving it again is causing the issue.
For the last selected song (the one that loads first), the DMX outputs remain correct while for all other songs the output is changed to “NC”.

Once I reassign the DMX outputs in 3.0.40 and continue using only this version, everything works as expected and the DMX output is no longer lost.

Best regards
Antric
