[3.0.38.184] Unexpected VST Live 3 Pro Crash

@musicullum
@Spork
Hello,

today I would like to report a crash in VST Live 3, version 3.0.38.184. I was in the process of checking my songs and switched from one song to the next one below it.

VST Live 3 Pro closed without any warning.
I have attached a crash report. I am using Windows 10.

VST Live Version 3.0.38 2026.5.10 17.29.17.981.dmp (938,9 KB)

BTW:
This version is much faster on my Windows 10 machine. The program starts more quickly, and loading my project (435 songs, each with 8 backing tracks + video text) is also very fast.
Thank you for that.

One more request:
I add MIDI tracks to every song to control my DASLIGHT4 lighting software.
Please give the note‑editing functions a bit more love and attention.

  1. When I grab notes with the mouse and try to move them slightly upward or to the right, they first jump to the left by the amount of the current grid setting. This happens very often and is quite annoying.

  2. Another issue is the double‑click detection.
A double‑click is detected even though a lot of time passes between selecting a note and clicking the same note again. As a result, the note gets deleted even though I didn’t intend to remove it.

There are more bugs I would like to address in a separate post.

Finally, like many others here, I want to say that I think the software is fantastic, and I already look forward to Fridays when a new VST Live update is released.

Regards
Herbert

If you don’t want that, switch off the grid snap.

Thank you very much, we’ll analyze it and get back to you,
Michael.

… we’ll check,
Michael.

We can see where it crashed and will provide an additional safety layer. Did you perhaps change Songs very rapidly?

Yeah, I switched between songs pretty quickly. Thanks for checking.

Herbert

HI @Herbert_Schmitt,

we did some code-improvements. Can you please download and install the latest Pre-Release (3.0.41). Is the crash still available?

Thank you,
Michael.

Hi Michael,

I tested the new version 3.0.41.191 on my Windows 11 laptop and on my Windows 10 stage computer.
I ran tests both with and without the “Multi Processing” option enabled.
On Windows 11 (laptop), I was unable to trigger a crash.
Unfortunately, however, a crash occurred on the stage computer running Windows 10.
I have attached the crash report. I hope you can find something that caused the crash.

Best regards
Herbert

This should be resolved, correct?

I spent the entire afternoon today testing version 3.0.41.191 with Win10 again.

I wasn’t able to cause it to crash. I assume everything is working properly.
Therefore, I’m marking this thread as resolved.

Thank you for your work. Please keep it up.
