3.0.52/2.2.130 MacOS only - Crash selecting VM MIDI port in layer

OK, I just checked on my somewhat well-hung  mid 2014 Intel MBP. I get no crashes on that machine changing the default instrument in a layer to any VM port. So this seems definitely not to be an Intel issue.

Would you mind sharing one of your basic projects that show this behavior?

It’s a bit hard when it crashes before I can save it :joy:

Oh FFS: Just worked out it only happens when MIDI In 1 is mapped to VM1 In. So it’s a schoolboy error of unintentionally setting up a MIDI loop. Then again I would have expected VSTL to guard against that, or at least display a message.

I’m guessing the reason it didn’t happen in my other installs was because MIDI In 1 was mapped to a real device.

Apologies to all for the wasted time, and thanks for all your help and suggestions.

Will mark this as solved but with a request to the devs to add a sanity check to MIDI port selection.

You got me!

Great you got the bugger sorted finally.

I should have worked it out sooner - wood and trees…

Fixed with the next version.

This is an even simpler reproduction if MIDI IN 1 is connected to your keyboard and you hit a note.

Don’t

Simpler? I didn’t even have a keyboard connected :joy:

Way to go - thank you!
