3 QUESTIONS ABOUT RAM AND 64 BIT ON MAC PRO

Hello, i own cubase 6.02 on mac pro 3 ghz with snow leopard os and 16 GB Ram. I thought that cubase 6 (64 bit mode) would have been faster when editing several events, for example, sliced multitrack drums with lots of crossfades…but it seems to me that nothing changes from cubase 5, the system is very slow when drums are completely sliced and crossfaded.
I use no 32-bit plug-ins, just cubase’s ones.

Why my system is still so slow with lots of crossfades?

what are the advantages of working in 64 bit mode?

a flash SSD hardisk could let my Mac pro be faster on that point (lots of crossfades)?

PS: sorry for my english, but it’s difficult to me to explain these troubles without thinking in italian
