4/4 sheet change to 3/4 problems

Tennessee Waltz D A6HighGdim.dorico (1.6 MB)

I’m creating a steel guitar arrangement for Tennessee Waltz for a student. I have a 4/4 page I use as a template for the tuning I use. I start each piece with this and save as to a new name.

Each time I try to change 4/4 to 3/4, it only makes the first measure 3/4, then a measure of what looks like 1/4 and the rest are 4/4. I know this must be easy, but I just spent 2 hours looking at help and I always get the same result. See attached file, Dorico 6.1.10.

Any help very appreciated!

Pete

Hi @Petimar,

activate Signposts visibility.
Select the double barline an delete.
Select the red Signpost and delete it.

(possibly in Engrave mode, click on Reset layout if you don’t need those system Breaks)

It’s a peculiarity of Dorico that a double bar (or any manual barline) behaves like a time signature. So when you change the initial time signature, the double barline blocks that change propagating beyond it. All Dorico can do is divide up the initial four beats into a 3/4 and a 3/4,1 (runt) pickup.

You should delete the double barline before you change the initial time signature.

Thanks all, that did the trick.
