48GB pc with cubase 5 or buy newer?

hi.

i have a dual xeon with 48 GB ram runs with windows 7 64 bit

i have cubase 5 witch support 64 bit plugins but not naturally 64 bit app

do i gain anything from upgrading from 5 to 6.5/7 (beside new features)

the cubase 5 work great for me until now with 4GB mem pc of course i was limit on channels and vsts so i upgrade it…

i am a havy user of vsts and audio channels my projects usually gets to 150-200 channels.

Aloha a,

Three things:

the cubase 5 work great for me until now with 4GB mem

1-If the system you have right now is working for you, then don’t change a thing.
I really believe in: ‘if it ain’t broke…’

2- If you want to do more of this, IMHO it’s time to get all your stuff (hard and software)
up to 64 bit so you can access a lot more ram.

do i gain anything from upgrading from 5 to 6.5/7 (beside new features)

3- YMMV.
Some users need/require/desire/gotta have this stuff but for me C5 is a
‘killer’ programme that can still produce quality work.

C5 is still installed and working on my 'puter.

HTH (hope this helps)

thanks but you didn’t quite help me

i still haven’t try install the c5 on my new pc thats why im asking about performance

i love c5 in evry way my only question is if there is a big difference of performance

you spoke of ram now i have 48 gb that’s a lot to use, cubase 5 cant use it or 6\7 use it better in a way?

C5 was the last crackable version. If that’s what you’re using the advantages to updating to C7 are manifold.

Or you might register your C5 license key so you can post in the normal forum for this question.

hehehe…

my cubase is legal but bought from a friend who has registered it to his account,

anyhow i decided to upgrade thank you all very much! hope it will worth it.

Good choice and good luck!
