6 work flow questions/problems

Hey guys! I’m using Mac and wondered how to do these things:

1. How do I delete all plugins from multiple selected tracks?

   Example: Say I’m not happy with my vocal processing and want to start from scratch.

2. How do I bypass all plugins from multiple selected tracks?

   Example: A singer wants to hear the difference between the processed and the natural recordings.

3. How do I add a specific plugin to all selected tracks?

   Example: I’d like to add a compressor to 20 violin tracks and dial in one specific, shared setting.

4. When I record audio over a loop, is there a quick way to export all of the takes/events?

   Example: Whenever I’m in a session and want to hand over the vocal recordings to the vocal engineer to mix, it takes me ages, because I create a track for each event and drag it onto the new track by hand and then export the tracks with the Audio Mixdown function.

5. Is there a way to have a track created for each selected take/event in subtracks?

   Example: I record vocals on a loop and I want to quickly create a new audio track for each of those takes. Currently I do that by hand which is very time consuming.

6. Is there a way to turn on advanced smart controls in vari audio by default? It’s really annoying to turn that on with each event you load into vari audio.

1. How do I delete all plugins from multiple selected tracks?

Open the MixConsole, select the tracks, activate Q-Link, and Command+Click on the Insert Bypass icon to reset the inserts.

Same as above, but instead of Command+Click, just hit the Insert Bypass icon.

3. How do I add a specific plugin to all selected tracks?

Similar to the above. Select the tracks, activate Q-Link, and add the plugin to a track. It will add to all of them.

4. When I record audio over a loop, is there a quick way to export all of the takes/events?

You could show lanes on the track, right click on the individual lanes, and create track from lane–then export.

For several of those involving plugins on multiple tracks, q-link is your friend. As mentioned you can click on the q-lick icon to toggle activate it, but I usually use a keyboard shortcut which temporarily activates it for any selected track(s). Shift-Alt/Opt Steinberg
