-6db when converting stereo to mono?

Batch conversion tool (in Wavelab Elements 9) has an option to “Mono (Mix -6db)”, this should keep me from running into any clipping problems?

Like, theoretically this is lowering each channel to half and then mixing them together right?

Sincerely

yes

Ok thanks.

Yes the standard is when Stereo to Mono will allmost double the audio sound in DB, wavelab reduces it with -6db. I think it is a setting… Anyway converting stereo to mono will raise the dB bigtime if not reduced by -6dB (would be lots of clipping else)…
