Hi,
After importing an xml score I have a weird situation with the music I am adding; the beams: are sticking out. I have tried resetting, I have gone into engraving and layout options. I have no idea what is going on.
The imported music is unaffected, but anything I change or add looks like the screenshot I have attached. The crotale notes are new. The piano bass clef from the last 8th in m. 14 to m. 15 is new material. Same thing. Is this a glitch in the import?

Check in the lower panel for beam extension with the beam selected.

Change your Notation options>Beam grouping so they don’t beam over rests?
