A few problems with Dorico 6 Pro

I have a few problems with Dorico 6. First, I keep getting the need to load Halion Sonic 7 - Instruments and Groove Agent SE5 - Instruments message. I am certain that they are loaded and am very frustrated with trying to get that taken care of.

Another issue is that I get no sound when playing back any of my scores. I have tried resetting the audio engine under the VST tab in preferences, but to no avail. I have looked at the Play section in Dorico and all of my instruments have double quotes around them (e.g. “ Noteperformer “) which I know means they are not connected.

I am close to my wit’s end trying to get these items resolved and would appreciate any help you can give me. TYIA!

Please do Help > Create Diagnostic Report and attach the resulting zip file to a reply here. That will hopefully give us a clue as to what’s going on. I’m pretty sure that the messages you’re getting about missing VST instruments and the lack of playback of your projects are very much related!

Is it possible that you have an ARM-powered computer, i.e. one with an ARM processor rather than an Intel one?

If so, then it could be that the issue is that Steinberg Download Assistant directed you to install the ARM64 versions of HALion Sonic 7 and Groove Agent SE, but Dorico requires the x86 versions.

It’s an AMD processor…

This really didn’t start acting up until I loaded in the Cubas 15 elements trial version.

You have an x64-based computer, so my guess about ARM64 plug-ins is unfortunately incorrect.

Can you please try uninstalling and reinstalling HALion Sonic 7 and Groove Agent SE? To uninstall them, go to Programs and Features via the Windows menu or Control Panel, and remove them from there. Then run Steinberg Download Assistant, and find ‘Dorico Pro 6’ under ‘My Products’, and reinstall the instruments from there.

If that doesn’t work, please post an updated set of diagnostics.

It’s possible that the Cubase installation interfered in some way.

Groove Agent SE is now on version 6. That’s the version that Cubase 15 installs. Dorico 6 originally installed Groove Agent v5, but now installs v6. I don’t know if there’s any confusion on your setup about which version is needed/installed.

As Daniel said, it’s worth deleting HALion and GA, and reinstalling them from Dorico’s panel in the Download Assistant.

It’s still coming up.
And when I go into the Download Assistant to install them, they are already showing up as being in there - even after rebooting the computer…

Here’s another diagnostic report as you requested in this case.

Did you actually reinstall? SDA doesn’t know whether you’ve actually uninstalled the software, but you can choose ‘Install Again’ from the drop-down on the button at the right-hand side.

Yes, I did reinstall those files. I reinstalled both the content and instrument for both Halion Sonic 7.1.51 and Grove Agent SE 6.0.10

Do I possibly need to do a complete reinstall of Dorico 6 Pro??

I finally got it fixed. I went to the Dorico installer and chose the Repair option. Everything seems to be working ok again!

I appreciate all of your help! Thanks!!

I’m glad you’re finally up and running, @maestroralph.
