Does anyone have any input on this?

I might prefer Dorico’s default (top), but I’m just wondering. Perhaps it should be an engraving option in a future version?

I prefer to have the fermatas lined up exactly where the pause is.

It saves such a ridiculous amount of rehearsal time and stops endless questions from people who don’t pay attention/don’t mark their parts.

I agree that it would be a nice option; and I think it’s been mentioned before (along with fermatas above and below in keyboard parts), so no doubt on the list.

For now, you’ll just have to use Force Duration.

Me too. So, I think the second picture is the right solution.

I am surprised that Dorico does not automatically break the dotted half at the midpoint of the measure. It frequently does, even in the absence of a fermata.

That may depend on the time sig and the Notation Options for Note Grouping.

I don’t know all the notation rules but would not ‘alignment’ look ‘strange’ in some cases?

Correct, I have this setting “ON”;

Keyboard music is typically for one player and I wouldn’t bother aligning in that case.
