I think Jamstick used to make something like this, but it’s not on their website anymore. Here’s a link to a review. It had real strings to strum, and sensors on a small fretboard.

Actually I have one of those (and never touch it). If you replaced the fretboard with buttons that could be set to different chords and tripled the number of strings - that’s more what I’m thinking.
I ran into this which looks real interesting. Wonder when it might be available.
