A minor SW glitch? Iterating between notes with arrow keys inconsistent

Dear forum,

I found old threads that discuss that the arrow keys does not iterate between all notes, e.g. in a chord.

In this chord for example.

Using the up arrow will select only some of the notes and when using the down arrow - again other notes will be selected.

So before somebody hopefully enlighten me, I have to manually select the notes that are skipped with the mouse. There must be a way to avoid that?

Btw recently discovered that if one note is selected, pressing the tab key will select all notes and even play it back.

Thanks

I cannot reproduce this behaviour (sorry)

Are they in the same voice?

That was my first thought as well, but even in different voices (bar 2) I can cycle through all the notes with the Up/Down arrows.

@steinfeld is this an XML import? (Also because there appear to be 8 beats in a 4/4 bar). Could you post the file, perhaps cut down to that one bar?

Yup, me too.

Hmm.. what is wrong in my end, then? The document is not imported xml, just built from one of the templates.
It only happens when the chord is spread out.

Ah, it’s a cluster (I thought there were 8 beats in the bar). Indeed I can replicate this when I add them all to the same beat. Apparently Dorico’s navigation gets confused then and doesn’t cycle through the different notes chromatically. I do think this is limited to this type of situation (i.e. writing a chord with so many notes close together that they can’t fit in one stack).

Yes and clusters are among the most important things in life

Anyways, I really like to cycle through the notes and give each note a listen. Transpose it or delete it.

@steinfeld,

In the “sharp” section of the cluster, is there really a need for the ‘E’ ?

My guess is that the ‘E’ is not needed in the “sharp” section.

No @PeterThomsen I agree there’s no need for the E, it’s just an example. All chords that cannot fit in one stack skips some notes - at least on my system - like it’s happening in the video. I would love to be able to hear all notes with that arrow keys.
