A simple macro for a newbie

Hi,

Working on cubase for a few months, I went to improve my workflow.
And naturally, I lean on the macros that it is possible to do. I have several in mind, and the first is range suppression.

For audio editing, in the project window, I want to select an interval with the interval tool, delete it and then apply an automatic fade out at the end of the left event, and an automatic fade in at the start of the right event. Then go back one measure earlier.

So the macro I tried to do doesn’t work. I only have interval deletion that works. No fade is applied to the surrounding events.

Anyone can help me ?

Hi and welcome to the forum,

Do you mean the Range Tool?

With the Range Tool you cannot select the left/right Audio Event. You can do this by using the Object Selection Tool only.

How was your Macro, please?

Sorry for my poor english. I’m french, and cubase it is too.

I try to translate it.

Edition - Split range
Transport - Locators to selection
Edition - Delete range
Transport - Go to left locator
Transport - Snap to previous event
Edition - Automatic selection of events under the cursor
Audio - Apply a standard fade out
Transport - Go to right locator
Transport - Snap to previous event
Edition - Automatic selection of events under the cursor
Audio - Apply a standard fade in
Transport - Go to left locator
Transport - Shift -1 bar (or measure)

Hi,

I can’t figure out, how to switch from the split (any kind of) to select the left Audio Event.

If I use Range Tool > Delete (or Range Tool > Edit > Range > Split), then I select the Object Selection Tool to be able to select the Audio Event, Cubase doesn’t know, which event should be selected (because the range is not linked to the Audio Events).

If I go for Left and Right Locators > Edit > Function > Split Tool, the result is the same. There is no way, how to elect the left Audio Event after this.

Kindly adjust your macro to change to the selection tool like this:

At the end please add your “shift -1 bar”.

Thank you for your answer.
Right now, I’m not in front of cubase. I try as soon as I get home.

I should add that this only works if the track is selected. (In Cubase you can select parts and tracks independently of each other)
