AAF relinkng files

Hi

I have an AAF file delivered to me. Nuendo 6.06 opens it for import, but if I choose to extract the audio files nuendo crashes. ( yes I will submit the AFF archive for analysis ) . If I choose to reference the files contained in the AFF then Nuendo successfully opens a project, which is good. I can work with this.

But if the project is moved to another workstation via an external drive then Nuendo forgets where the audio files are ( now the files are on a different drive ). Relinking should be easy, but I can’t find any way to get Nuendo to understand that the files are inside the containing AAF file … Ugh. The missing file dialog clearly shows the path to the audio within the AAF archive, but Selecting the AAF file or folder just results in an unknown file error.

Anyone figured this out?

Hmm…I’ve often wondered why Nuendo does not at least scan the media folder next to the .aaf file automatically. This is where you can always expect audio files from AVID MC. The folders even come with the same default name. It really should not be so hard for Nuendo to guess the path to the media files.
Maybe 6.5 brings improvements here. Thorsten Marx seems to be quite busy collecting information about our biggest .aaf griefs.
I have high hopes for the near Nuendo future.

Hello,

we will provide a first big AAF-update beginning of February 2014. It will include a lot of fixes and improvements regarding AAF-import filter. Nuendo 6.5 will include even more improvements (also AAF export) and new AAF features.

Thanks,
Timo

Excellent news. And desperately needed. Thanks, Timo!

Best regards,

Martijn.
