Ability to lock Marquee tool to one option?

Hi There,

Is there a way to lock the marquee selection tool to one option aka just rectangular? I don’t want to use the elliptical option, especially through hotkey presses.

Yes, since 13.0.20 you can assign a shortcut key to it directly:
