When I press “Export” in Print mode, and there are already files with the same name in the folder I want to export to, Dorico only gives me two options: overwrite or create new, the latter meaning that I get double pdfs with (1) in the name. Why is there no “cancel” button there? Is there a good reason for it or did someone forget to put it there?
Yes, I have noticed the same thing. Once you press the “Export” button, there’s no going back, even when presented with the dialog.
I use a Mac so I tend to use the system print option from the bottom left of the Print mode screen. It allows me to save to PDF and I can name it whatever I want that way. I don’t know if Windows now has that capability from its print dialog. My last Windows days, many years ago, included having a separate print driver to print to PDF but that was a long, long time ago. I find Dorico’s handling of filenames and the like just a little annoying because it is not as flexible as, or better, than the inherent OS functions for the same process.
@kasky1 The print dialog on Mac is mostly fine, but it does strange things on my device when I try to specify custom page dimensions or want to export multiple part layouts at once.
I also want to chime in that I still desperately wait for Dorico to give me the option to reveal the newly created files in Explorer / Finder after export.
