About the "Aspect Ratio" issue on Video Player (Nuendo 14)

When I select “none” in Aspect Ratio, the image should stretch to my desired length and width without being limited by the original aspect ratio of the video. However, it’s currently sticking to the aspect ratio, with black borders appearing on both sides of the image.
What could be causing this?
My video format is 1080i 59.94, AVI motion JPEG.
Thanks.

You might try the video re-encoding tool by AudioSpot (ProResER Pro). I use it to create ProRes .MOV work prints of every video I import into Nuendo for the best video engine compatibility, and it has a handful of aspect ratios that it can apply to the video conversions that might help:

Thank you for your reply. This is just as I suspected; it seems to be related to the video encoding.

However, this is troubling me because I’m using a “Blackmagic” video capture card, which doesn’t have a mov file format. If I capture the video and then convert it to mov, it will take me a lot of time. I think I need to find a faster way.

If the official team doesn’t address these issues, I suggest you consider switching to Reaper. There’s no need to make the change immediately—take your time with the transition. Reaper handles video effortlessly, while Nuendo’s video format support is very unfriendly.

What version of Nuendo are you referring too with video issues? Since Nuendo14 there has been a huge overhaul on how it handles video now with support of your GPU> videos are now handled effortlessly - I haven’t run into any issue with importing videos of many different codecs etc- Although the above video codecs Rodney is reffering to is for good practice and for accurate sync and compatibility with Nuendo and should be part of a good workflow to ensure that. I guess depends on what you may primarly doing with audio to video etc.
