I can’t seem to figure out how to automatically get the normal placement of an accent mark on a tied note. The accent should be the same distance from the note head as the one below it is from its note head:
Hi Greg, You can select just the accent and move it in engrave mode. (On my iPad I don’t see any settings to change the y parameter in properties – not sure about on desktop). I believe this is because of the collision avoidance. Areas around the articulation and tie overlap and force them apart. You can try turning off collision avoidance but I don’t know if you can do it for just that instance. Maybe someone with more experience could chime in.

I’ve encountered this just yesterday.
I believe this is due to the collision avoidance settings for ties/slurs but I’m not 100% sure and I have not yet had time to investigate this properly.
Thanks! Where do I find the collision avoidance setting for articulations? I’ve been looking for it. When there are a lot of these, manually moving them is not efficient.
I don’t think there is anywhere that you can globally adjust the distance.
It looks like you’ve adjusted the default tie to be significantly higher up than usual, which may be exacerbating the issue.
That doesn’t look like my ties. I pretty much use the factory defaults except for some style options, mainly to avoid letting them get too arched. I’ll play with the settings for ties, though. Is this an image that you created?
Yes, with Factory default Engraving Options.
Your example is much more ‘between’ the notes, rather than ‘underneath’, which is more standard for single-note ties. FWIW, Here’s Finale and MuseScore:
Got it. I did have a slight adjustment for ties on the edge of a note head, and changing that back to the default seems to be the fix for this issue.
By the way, ties that go from center of note to center of note look like slurs to me, but the option is helpful as long as I add horizontal adjustment to make it appear almost between—or in line with other ties.
