Getting to the Cubasis folder has become more & more difficult to impossible since Android is restricting the Android folder with each new OS update.
For now, there is a method that gives you full access but it’s a fairly complicated process.. i’ll try to explain it step by step;
- First of all you’ll need to unlock “developer options”
Key Steps to Enable:
Access Settings: Open your phone’s main settings menu.
Find Build Number: Navigate to “About phone” (or “Software information” > “About phone” on Samsung devices).
Tap Seven Times: Tap the “Build number” option seven times rapidly.
Verify: Enter your PIN/Password to confirm. A toast message will say “You are now a developer”.
Locate Menu: Find the new menu in Settings > System > Developer Options.
- Next up: Install “Shizuku’
You can find this app in the play store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=moe.shizuku.privileged.api if you get the message that your device is too new, you can install the latest version from the official developer from Github: Releases · RikkaApps/Shizuku · GitHub > apk link
You will have grant permission to install from unknown sources once you click on the apk file after you downloaded it. You will get a dialogue when you click it, redirecting you to the setting needed to do so.
If the original Github version doesnt work for you [know problem for devices with a mediatek chipset], try the forked (altered) version from thedjchi Release v13.6.0.r1318-thedjchi · thedjchi/Shizuku · GitHub
- Install a 3rd party file explorer from the play store
- After installing Shizuku you wil need to “disable auto blocker” in Settings > Security and Privacy
- Then: enable “USB debugging” and “Wireless Debugging” in developer options
When you turn autoblocker back on, these 2 setting are automatically disabled and if you put autoblocker off these will be enabled again
- Launch Shizuku and choose: Pairing
There will be a notification and in the notification you can enter the 6 digit code.
If you are always on the same wifi, you only have to pair once.
- Press start in the Shizuku app (wireless debugging)
- Open a file explorer
- Browse to Android/data/com.steinberg.cubasis3/files/Cubasis 3
And you have full access.
A couple of side notes: -once you went thru the initial set up, the only thing you’ll have to do is: turn on autoblocker when you are done with Shizuku (revokes all permissions and settings) [safety] and turn autoblocke off when you want to use Shizuku. -there is a start on boot setting in the Shizuku app settings (no need to manually press start). -Shizuku works on trusted wifi so public wifi spots probably will not work.
