Hello Dorico Community. Is there a keyboard shortcut to add a courtesy accidental to an individual note that includes parentheses? I see that you can select an individual note and select options in the properties panel. I was looking for a keyboard shortcut to accomplish this.
You can actually search for official key commands via Preferences > Key Commands. You can view and change them at your will.
NB there is likely a way to create an “unofficial” key command for this but it would involve some fiddling with system files and I’m not confident enough to try and describe this accurately!
Thank you pianoleo - could you please provide some additional detail on how you created your single key toggle? Is is a sort of “macro” you create in Dorico?
Not at all. I went to Preferences, which is on the Dorico menu on Mac or the Edit menu on Windows, then selected Key Commands in the left side.
Then as you can see above (or indeed below), I searched for acci, flicked open the Edit section, selected Toggle Accidental Visibility, clicked the Press shortcut field in the right side, then typed my desired keyboard shortcut.
For completeness, I want to mention that this command should have been named “Cycle Accidental Visibility” since there are more than 2 states it switches between. I use a shortcut for this command to hide an unwanted accidental (since Hide is the first state it changes to) and a different shortcut for the Show Accidental command.
