Accidentals repeat in tie across bar line

Still new to Dorico and finding my way around. I have entered a note at the end of a measure and applied an accidental, then entered the same note (with accidental) in the next bar, then tied the two notes. I expected the tie to make the accidental in the second bar disappear, but it stayed. Is there a way to enter notes that have accidentals and tie them across a bar line without the accidental repeating in the next measure?

That looks like a slur to me. That would explain the accidental.

You don’t have to write tied notes separately and go back & tie them later in Dorico. That note you could just enter as a half and lengthen by an eighth. Dorico treats tied notes as one note, and displays the rhythm according to the meter and the place within the bar.

Also, a slur does not work the way a tie does, so don’t do that except in rare circumstances. For what you have now, just select the eighth note and press T to tie to the half note. (When you do, the slur will disappear.)

Great, thanks. The horizontal slur in the panel looks like a tie. I now see the smaller panel with the tie.

T for tie, S for slur.
