Acoustic Drum editing & quantization / Metal genre


I use Cubase Pro 10.5

It’s the first time I’m dealing with an acoustic drum, it’s a metal song so very dense with a lot of fast double kicks.

I have watched a bunch of youtube tutorials and I did the following:

  1. Create hit points in the sampler / audio window.
  2. Adjust the threshold
  3. Slice
  4. Quantize with 1/32 or 1/16
    5.Cross fade with equal power settings

And it creates a mess… I can see that some transient are not pushed to the closest bar or subdivision I have set-up.

Any idea of what I’m doing wrong?


You could try it with the Multi Track Audio Quantize Panel:

There are some useful functions like offset and crossfade option for use-cases like yours.
