Activation issue: Cubasis LE 3 not unlocked by UR22C on iPad pro 4

I am using a Steinberg UR22C audio interface connected directly to my iPad Pro via USB-C cable (in USB 3.0 mode). According to the documentation, Cubasis LE 3 should be automatically unlocked (“Full Feature Set”) when a compatible Steinberg interface is detected, without any additional purchase.

However, when I launch Cubasis LE 3 after connecting the UR22C, the program still shows the “Buy Full Feature Set” prompt and remains in demo mode with track limitations. The “About” or “Settings” section doesn’t indicate that the full version is activated, and I cannot use AUv3 plugins like LE03 AudioTune which require the full Cubasis LE.

My setup:

  • Connection: USB-C from iPad Pro directly to UR22C
  • UR22C power switch set to USB 3.0; no external power supply
  • UR22C recognized by iPad (input, monitoring, stable audio)

I have tried the following troubleshooting steps:

  1. Rebooted UR22C and iPad.
  2. Connected/disconnected UR22C before launching Cubasis.
  3. Reset Cubasis preferences.
  4. Switched power modes on UR22C.
  5. Tried alternative USB-C cables.
  6. Confirmed UR22C works properly in other DAWs on iPad.

Could you please advise:

  1. Whether my setup should support free activation, or is a purchase necessary?
  2. If any additional setup is required (firmware update, linking Apple ID, etc.)?
  3. Whether there is another way to unlock Cubasis LE 3 using my UR22C?

Hi @kostoprav1979,

Thank you for your message, and a warm welcome to the Cubasis forum!

Cubasis LE for iOS/iPadOS is the smaller version of Cubasis, which runs in demo mode until it is unlocked by connecting a supported audio device that comes bundled with the app.

Please visit our comparison page to learn more about the included features of Cubasis LE. Most of these are also listed in the app description.

Once unlocked via your supported audio device, you are free to use the available features. Additionally, you are eligible to purchase the optional full feature set via in-app purchase, along with other optional in-app content.

Hope that helps!

Best wishes,
Lars
