Trying to upgrade from Dorico 5 to Dorico 6 on my Mac. I like Dorico but have NEVER had so much trouble downloading a piece of software before. I can’t get Download Assistant to ever work and when I try to take the “long road” and install without the Assistant I can get the software to download to my Mac but get this following message and can get no further. Very frustrated.
Hey!
Have you tried reinstalling Download Manager?
For me (and I know that’s no help for you, of course… ), this took literally 4 minutes twice in a row on two different machines:
- Buy in the store
- Copy paste serial number into download manager, download and install
- Hit activate in the license manager
- Have fun!
You could try to reinstall the download manager, and see if that resets things to normal?
B.
Thanks for the response. Here’s where I am after 2 hours of work. I re-installed the Download Assistant on my new machine, which I bought right after buying Dorico 5. No luck. I tried downloading without using the Download Assistant on that same newer Mac. Still no luck. As a last resort I went back to my old Mac (slow as molasses in January) and re-installed the Download Assistant and THIS time it opened and allowed me to purchase the upgrade. Then I was able to activate the software on the old machine. Then when I went back to the newer machine and restarted the program it opened for me. Soooo. everything seems to be working on both computers at the moment but man, what an ordeal that was. This was the first time the Download Assistant ever worked for me and why it would work on the old machine but not on the newer is a mystery. Anyway, all seems to be working at the moment. Whew!
Thanks again.
Good it’s solved…
Humor disclaimer: I’m on Windows 11, maybe that’s why "It Just Works"®…
You may have a point there.
