Please consider adding a Keyboard Shortcut that will Activate/Deactivate Instrument.
RATIONALE
In my ~130 track orchestral template I’d like to be able to Deactivate all VSTs as the default state, then use a Keyboard Shortcut to Activate only the Instruments I’m using in my composition. This will help keep the Audio Load down, and having a Keyboard Shortcut will greatly improve workflow over having to use the mouse and the Rack.
Additionally/alternatively, it’d be helpful to make the Activate Instrument button available in the Track Control Settings.
There is already a command for enabling/disabling a track, it’s Audio→Disable/Enable Track, which you can assign to a keyboard shortcut.
If then you select all the tracks in your template, and since initially they’re all enabled, you can use this shortcut to disable all of them. You can save this template and afterwards, enable/disable whichever track (or selection of tracks) you want to.
Thank you for the reply. Yes, I see that command in the track’s context menu, and it does indeed Enable/Disable the track and the VST Instrument that’s on it.
I had been looking specifically for the Activate Instrument button represented by the “Power” button for each VST in the Rack.
Thank you very much. I think the Enable/Disable Track function will work for me.
Best,
Tom
There seems to be caveat with this function. Disable/Enable Track only turns the VST Instrument Off or On if the project loaded with the Instrument On. If the Instrument is OFF either because the project opened that way or because the user manually turned it OFF, and you Enable the Track, the Instrument does not turn ON. By design? Or a defect? Or am I doing something wrong?
