Add More Focus On The Marching Arts!

I recently moved over to Dorico from Finale and so far I absolutely love it. The only issue I have is that there isn’t inclusion of the marching arts such as marching band, drumline, drum corps, etc.

I was shocked to see there wasn’t any sort of stock sounds for marching band drumline (snare, tenors, basses, cymbals). Even trying to connect external libraries like ‘Virtual Drumline’ to Dorico along with the percussion mapping is a nightmare.

Also, it should include score and playback templates that include marching band pep tune, marching band field show, indoor drumline show, drum corp show, drumline cadence, etc. (In general it would be awesome if I can create my own custom template and save it to show up on the start up Dorico window along side the included ones.)

I really hope that this is quickly added to Dorico because I know a lot of people that use Finale that come from the marching arts world and need for this to be as simple and intuitive as possible.

You should be able to use the Garritan GIFF instruments, at least. I have made some Percussion Maps for some of the VDLite drums.

VDLite maps.zip (3.4 KB)

Sadly, making Playback templates for ARIA is a bit awkward, because the versions of ARIA between Mac and Windows are different. I could make some Playback Templates for Mac, at least; though I don’t really know much about Marching. (Other than ‘forced’.)

That is possible already: File > Save As Project Template.
