Add text to multiple staves/instruments

Apologies if this is an obvious thing… my google foo and RTFMing have not turned up suitable solutions, and I know there must be one.

My desires are simple… to add text to multiple staves at once. (In this case I want to add text to each member of the saxophone section.) I have attempted in note input mode… using shift/down arrow to select the entire sax section… then hit shift-x to add text. It only adds to the staff at the top of the selection.

I have also tried in edit mode, selecting either the first note of each measure, or the entire measure for the entire sax section, opening the text popover, and it still only adds the text to one system.

I’m sure it’s obvious, but I’m new. :slight_smile:

I don’t think you’re missing anything – what you can do instead is add the text to one staff, then copy/paste it to others. There’s:

  • Standard copy/paste
  • Alt/Opt-click with the text selected
  • Edit > Paste Special > Duplicate to Staff Above/Below commands (which you can assign key commands for)

(Oh, and another option which doesn’t sound like what you want here, but in case others read this and it’s appropriate for them: you can add system-attached text that appears at system object positions only in the score - like rehearsal marks, tempo marks etc - but still appear in all part layouts.)
