That works brilliantly. Thanks so much.
Once things are set up, the work flow is very simple. I can audition beats from within the AD2 “Beats page”, then drag the loop I like right into the Key Editor pane in Dorico’s Write mode. Then tweak as needed within AD2.
I tried to do the same thing in Groove Agent but GA’s user interface seems completely bewildering to me. The AD2 user interface makes sense to me.
I am interested in how you are able to drag beats into Dorico. I find when I do this it doesn’t exactly match up to the AD2 percussion map I have created and I have to do some tweaking. The main problem however is that playback in Dorico initiates the actual beats in AD2 and plays over the midi file/notes in the score I drug in and continues playing on past the end of the score. Do you know how to prevent that?
Thanks,
I use the map identified above by derAbgang, and set the AD2 VST to GM mapping. That does not get every possible kit piece/technique, but it gets all the common ones, which is adequate for my needs
It sounds as if you might be doing MIDI triggering in addition to bringing the MIDI into the Dorico score? I just have a hidden drumset for playback and I drag the MIDI into that.
